There has been much a buzz surrounding Stanton’s new touch dj controller “DaScratch”. They are suppose to announce it’s release today Sept 19th.

There are touch, gestures and visual feedback allowing you to easily control any DVS (digital vinyl system) with ease. With DaScratch you can trigger samples, set cue points, loop, change pitch, scroll, set volume levels, adjust effects, modify eqs, etc…

Some of you may think this is a simple midi controller, but it goes a bit beyond that. Stanton has created templates that work with popular DVS’s such as Traktor, Serato and Torq. And you will be able to edit/create your own.

The makers of that USB turntable, ION Audio have recently released an even easier way to digitize your vinyl collection. How about going straight from vinyl to a SD card!? Sounds pretty fresh.

You can still use the USB or RCA method + your computer if you prefer being slow. The cool thing is that you can even connect a USB thumb drive and record your music directly to that, again bypassing the need for a computer in this process.

LP 2 CD has a large display and familiar controls for Record, Playback, and navigation. You can even control the quality of your MP3s without connecting a computer.

If you haven’t heard by now, you probably live under a rock. Apple announced several new products yesterday and the most impressive to us is their new in ear headphones.

These things will be dropping in Oct and will only cost $79!! The verdict is still out on the sound quality, but you can bet your ass that if they are even remotely close to the Shure line of in ears, people will be jumping ship for these $79 ones in a heart beat. Especially since the nearest cheapest Shure in ear that has two drivers is around $400!! (the 5 series that is)

I’ve had my Headliner Serato DJ Bag for almost a year and so far it’s been rock solid. I’ll start with the exterior in my review. The bag’s outside construction is pretty tough. It’s water proof and ballistic nylon.I don’t think it’ll withstand crazy attacks from ninja’s but it’s thick enough so you don’t have to worry about anything sharp going through it. The back part even has extra padding for your back and its got the same padding on the adjustable straps.

It’s got two main compartments. One holds the laptop in it’s own little section with velcro straps to keep it in place and another section within it to hold vinyl. I use it to hold Serato wax, extra wax, and the Serato laptop stand. The main compartment holds a lot of what you need for gigs and then some. It unzips fully, holds the Serato box, needle/cartridge box, has two small zipped sections with nets, and more velcro straps to hold down wires.

I use the upper zipped section to hold my external hard drive and power adapter and the other to hold extra back up wires, small tools, rca/xlr/quarter inch adapters, etc. The velcro loops hold my RCA wires for the Serato box. On the top of the bag on the external part is a handy dandy zipped pocket. It can be used to hold keys, gum, a small camera, illegal drugs or whatever you want. Very cool indeed. Finally, the there’s an outer pocket that I use to hold cd’s, flyers, magazines, and sometimes my booger collection.

If you use Serato and play out a lot, you’ll definitely want this bag. My only complaint is that I had a rip in the upper section with the net. Doesn’t affect anything at all and I probably caused it because I put so much crap in it. The padded straps and back section are dope because this thing gets heavy when you fill it up and I can’t afford a massage on a weekly basis. Previously I had a laptop bag and my old school vinyl bag but this takes care of both all in one. Scroll down to see more pics of the bag in detail.

It’s official, starting October 1st, Comcast will limit your monthly bandwidth to just 250GB! While the cap seems relatively high, Comcast claims they have been putting such limits in place for quite some time now (I guess they just didn’t make it “official” until recently).

In related news, Time Warner has set up a tiered pricing plan that ranges from $29.95 a month for 768 kilobits per second with a 5-gigabyte monthly cap (WEAK sauce) to $54.90 per month for 15 megabits per second and a 40-gigabyte cap. Overage fees will be $1 per gigabyte, and customers will be able to monitor their bandwidth consumption via the company’s web site.

I am not sure if AT&T or Verizon are considering implementing a similar cap or tiered model, I haven’t heard of any such thing as of yet (let me know if you have).

In a statement e-mailed to Ars, Free Press called the caps “relatively high,” but said they were also an indictment of current US broadband policy. “If the United States had genuine broadband competition, Internet providers would not be able to profit from artificial scarcity‚ they would invest in their networks to keep pace with consumer demand,” said Free Press research director S. Derek Turner. “Unfortunately, Americans will continue to face the consequences of this lack of competition until policymakers get serious about policies that deliver the world-class networks consumers deserve.”

The folks over at GigaOm have issued a 250GB challenge and provided tools to see if you early adopters can conclude what is really going on with all this.
